Emma Corcoran

Artist BioEmma Tung is a Somerville-based illustrator and painter. After spending 10 years in plant molecular biology research, culminating in a trauma-filled PhD, she has rediscovered her joyful love of plants and returned to creative endeavors. She is mainly self-taught but brings her scientific training to her artwork in her careful attention to plant morphology. She is inspired by her loved ones’ favorite fruits and flowers and hopes to capture how happy they make her by lovingly embodying each plant’s unique form in her illustrations and paintings. Through this process, her love for all queer people blooms, including her love for herself.
